Welcome to Friends
in the Hills
We are a thriving and active social club in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Our membership roster currently includes more than 350 women of various ages and backgrounds, hailing from nearly every US state and a number of different countries. We meet monthly at group luncheons and enjoy a wide range of activities and events throughout the month, where we socialize with current friends and welcome new ones.
If you live in Fountain Hills or in the immediate vicinity, please join us at our next luncheon or attend one of our Newcomer's Coffees to see what we're all about and let us get to know you.
Meanwhile, feel free to make use of our website to find out more about us, check out our Calendar of events, or Contact Us.
We hope to see you soon!
Our Club's Annual Meeting is held every November when, according to our bylaws, we are required to hold the elections for next year's Board of Directors. The nominees for our 2015 Board are as follows:
President Heidi Pearson 1st Vice President Harriet Larson 2nd Vice Presidents Donne Chapman and
Deanna Van Der Linden
Secretary Maria Wagaman Treasurer Marilyn Campbell
Voting, along with any pertinent Club business, will take place after lunch. But that's not all . . .
Before lunch, there are two very important and very popular events that traditionally take place at the November luncheon as well.
First is the Friends in the Hills Annual Food Drive to benefit our local Extended Hands Food Bank. Linda Struve will be waiting next to her car, outside the entrance to the Community Center, to accept your generous donations of non-perishable pantry items. Please see the Special Events page for details as to what will be acceptable to donate.
Next, the exceedingly popular Silent Auction will take place in the same ballroom where luncheon is served, prior to the lunch itself. The doors will open early (10:30) to allow attendees to examine all of the donated articles and write their bids on the Bid Sheet associated with each item. See the Special Events page for details on how, when, and where to donate your like-new household items, new handmade craft items, and gifts of your time and/or talent.
Thanks to all of these exciting events, the November luncheon is, historically, the most highly-attended Friends luncheon of the year so make sure you get your reservation, in the form of your payment of $20, to Ione Bushman by 5 PM on the cutoff date, November 5th.
See you at the Fountain Hills Community Center on November 12th!
Don't miss this one!
Our Holiday Dinner Dance Committee will be selling tickets for this favorite annual event at the November Luncheon.
Mark your calendars and dust off your dancin' shoes! The festivities will be at the Rio Verde Country Club, on Sunday, December 7th, from 5:30 until 9 PM.
Committee members are: Kathleen Sauser, Ann Elam, Joanie Gallichio, Suzanne Bertino, Toni Johnson, Sandy Clark and Joyce Stehlik. They will be on hand in the lobby, prior to the luncheon to provide reservation forms and accept your payment.

Each year, in November, Friends member and passionate supporter of the Extended Hands Food Bank, Linda Struve, waits outside the Community Center to collect donations of non-perishable food items from Friends members who are going inside to attend the monthly luncheon. And each year, her car is weighed down even more than in the past, thanks to the incredible generosity of Friends in the Hills members. See the Special Events activity page for more information.
